Everyone here at The Pavilion at Ravinia of Highland Park (just thirty minutes outside of Chicago!) is so excited to welcome the queens of psychedelic soul, Grace Jones and Janelle Monae, to the Ravinia stage for a one night, once in a lifetime performance. Though this isn’t technically deemed a tour, Jones and Monae will be traveling around America this summer for a handful of shows that will see them hit stops like Washington D.C.’s World Pride Fest, New York City, and of course - right here at Ravinia. Make sure to catch these sisters of soul right here on stage on Saturday, June 7th.

Grace Jones is a legendary singer, songwriter, and all around artistic talent who has a career that spans more than fifty years of magnificence. Born in Jamaica and a product of New York City’s Studio 54 disco scene, Jones has touched the genres of funk, R&B, pop, reggae, and everything in between. Undoubtedly New Wave and always ahead of the curve, Grace has starred in movies, garnered GRAMMY nominations, been ranked in Rock and Roll lists and playlists, and been a source of endless inspiration for the women artists who followed her - including Lady Gaga, Lorde, Solange, and Rihanna - to quite literally name a few. She has been ranked in the top 50 of greatest dance club artists of all time, and she serves as a role model for how to confidently and swiftly move to a place of prominence in all artistic fields she chooses to engage in. We love Grace - and if you haven’t seen her live yet - do yourself a favor and make sure you catch her this summer. 

Janelle Monae is also no stranger to the limelight, and has been making a name for herself as a prominent woman in R&B since she came onto the scene two decades ago. You probably know her from her collabs with FUN. on the song We Are Young, her role in Barry Jenkins’ movie Moonlight, or her provocative fourth album, The Age of Pleasure. It checks out that she's touring with Grace Jones this summer and working with Smartbar’s weekly QUEEN party, she is an artistic force herself - and will definitely be around for decades to come - as a musical talent, an actor, an artist you may even see pop up with a gallery show. No matter which avenue Monae chooses to partake in, we are so here for it - and you should be, too!
