Ravinia Pavilion
Cuban legend Chucho Valdés is celebrating 50 years of Irakere in a big way. Essentially, he's convinced a group of very close friends to hit the road with him. This jazz-filled tour will make a stop at the Ravinia Pavilion on Wednesday, July 9th. When they built the Ravinia Pavilion, this was the type of show that they had in mind.
It allows guests to sit back, relax, and listen to top tier jazz music that's going to have on cloud nine. With Chucho Valdes, Paquito D'Rivera, and Arturo Sandoval leading the way, you know that it's going to be a night to remember.
All three of these men are likely going to take the stage together, as they have numerous times before. The show will also include a bunch of other talented musicians. This is a jazz night for the ages, and you're not going to want to miss it. Spots in the lawn are starting at $51. Click the get tickets button to make sure you can be a part of this event.
This tour is turning into a party at every stop. That's actually to be expected when these Cuban legends take the stage, regardless. This Irakere 50 tour is turning out to be extra special, though, because there is a genuine connection between Chucho Valdes, Paquito D'Rivera & Arturo Sandoval. The three have gotten on the piano, the sax, and the trumpet; each of them is a master of one of the instruments, numerous times together already as part of Irakere. Every time they have a chance to perform as a trio, you can see that they're enjoying themselves, and that bleeds into the crowd for sure.
Anyone who is not familiar with Irakere, or even Chucho Valdes as a performer and is just planning to make their way to the Ravinia Pavilion for the smooth jazz is obviously welcome. Here's a small history lesson, though, if you want to understand why these performances have become so emotional. Chucho Valdes, Paquito D'Rivera & Arturo Sandoval were all part of a jazz band called Irakere back in Cuba. This is one of those legacy groups that was formed in the 1920s, The performers you'll see at the Ravinia Pavillion will part of subsequent generations. These three men later defected to the US and have since reunited to play music. There's just something powerful about that story that you're going to be able to feel in their music once Wednesday, July 9th, rolls around.
It's hard to go wrong with any seat in the house. You might want to avoid the edges of the main theater. Try and keep your seat toward the middle to have a better perspective of the show. If you're sitting up front, you're obviously going to get a double experience. This includes the chance to vibe to the music and be in awe of the way these legends are playing. Speaking of vibe, you can't go wrong with a spot on the lawn for this event!
Seats for this event are starting at just $51. If you hit the "get tickets" button now, you can guarantee your presence at the Ravinia Pavilion for this night of jazz and Cuban beats.
