When this incredible duo first joined forces, it was a harmonious bliss that brought some breathtaking soundscape. Both Plant and Alison Krauss are exceptional singers. They may be an unlikely tandem initially, but they proved that their musical partnership was a perfect match. From country tunes to folk staples, their live set has introduced a plethora of music styles. This brilliant partnership has already resulted in two outstanding studio albums. In 2007, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss released their debut collaboration album, Raising Sand. The effort was met with wide critical acclaim, even winning Album of the Year at the Americana Music and Honors & Awards. Meanwhile, the album spawned a smashing hit, “Gone, Gone Gone (Done Moved On)” which won the Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals at the 2008 Grammy Awards. The following year, the album also received a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Folk/American Album.
Who would have thought that a singer for a legendary rock/metal band and bluegrass sensation could create such wonderful tunes and fantastic harmonies? Their first collaboration was so good that they had to do a follow-up effort. In 2021, Plant and Strauss dropped their sophomore effort, Raise the Roof. The album was another groundbreaking hit and received numerous accolades, including three Grammy nominations. Meanwhile, its lead single, “Going Where the Lonely Go,” also received a Grammy nomination for Best Country Duo/Group Performance.
As their amazing collaboration has resonated so well with their fans across the world, Plant and Strauss embarked on a massive outing in 2023 to serenade their fans with outstanding staples. The shows were a smashing hit among audiences, so they had to do a few extended legs in select cities. This 2024, they are back, and they’re bringing along a specially curated set of support acts. For their show at The Pavilion at Ravinia in Highland Park, Illinois, Plant and Krauss will bring singer-songwriter and guitarist JD Mcpherson. The talented independent artist from Oklahoma has been making waves on the charts since the release of his debut album, Signs and Signifiers, in 2012. For his set at The Pavilion, he’s expected to cover his career-spanning hits, including songs for his latest album, Socks.
