World-renowned violinists Stella Chen and Matthew Lipman will join critically acclaimed cellist Brannon Cho for an afternoon of chamber music trios in Bennett Gordon Hall. This will also be their debut at the popular Ravinia Festival.
The audience will be treated to Ludwig van Beethoven’s String Trio No. 3 in G major, op. 9 no. 1; Gideon Klein’s String Trio; and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s popular Divertimento in E-flat major, K. 563, like never before.

Award-winning violinist Stella Chen, praised for her gleaming tone and staggering technique, has performed as a soloist with many world-renowned symphony orchestras and continuously tours around the globe. She is the inaugural recipient of the Robert Levin Award from Harvard University, among many other top accolades. When Stella Chen plays, there is no shortage of chills.
Avery Fisher Career Grant winner Matthew Lipman is acclaimed for his rich tone, elegant phrasing, splendid technique, and musical sensitivity. He is one of the most sought-after instrumentalists of his generation. His recordings include his debut album, "Ascent," and the Billboard Classical chart-topping recording of Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante.
Cellist Brannon Cho, the First Prize winner of the International Paulo Cello Competition, among other awards, has been applauded for his burnished tone and spellbinding technique. He is truly one of the most outstanding artists of his generation, having performed with many orchestras and world-renowned conductors worldwide.

Beethoven's String Trio No. 3 in G major boasts vigor, brilliance, and virtuosity in the faster movements, contrasted with great beauty and a melancholic atmosphere in the slower movements.
Gideon Klein’s String Trio is an innovative and profoundly moving work in an Expressionist style. It contains polytonality, polyrhythm, and Moravian folk tunes, and it is especially renowned for its emotional content.
Named one of Mozart’s most noble works, the Divertimento in E-flat major offers something special: every note contributes to spiritual and sensuous fulfillment in sound.
